VSG develops and maintains a credit portfolio management and analysis product that is currently used in over 200 banks and other financial institutions in the United States. Every day, over 8,000 bank employees actively use the product to make the most optimal lending decisions.
The idea for the product originated in the distant 2005, and from 2011 began its implementation in Bulgaria. After many years of work and improvement in 2017 VSG entered a partnership with one of the largest financial technology companies in the United States, which began to offer the product as part of its portfolio. This strategic cooperation is based on the product's uniqueness and the close values and similarities in the company culture of the two companies. The product is currently selected as the leading one for the entire corporation in the Loan Origination division due to the variety of functionalities and the good technologies on which it is based, with customers and users who use it constantly increasing.
We develop analytical software as we insist on being efficient and fast. Our team works with established technologies. We can say that we quickly follow the current trends in the market. In technological solutions, we choose technologies with versions for long-term maintenance. For the backend part of the product, we recently migrated to the latest version of the .NET platform for building web and desktop applications (.NET 6). In the front-end part, we chose React with Redux and Typescript. We have a large and complex database working with the latest public version of T-SQL. We care a lot about security because many financial institutions rely on us. We have 100 integrations that facilitate bank employees and their customers daily. The solution we offer is for all of them to be brought together in one place as functionalities and to work efficiently. Of major help here are technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
The fintech industry is extremely dynamic, and banks and other financial institutions, traditionally considered more conservative, are forced to digitize very quickly to meet the requirements of the modern world. For developers, the challenge is even more serious - on the one hand to quickly provide new, working, and easy-to-use functionalities and applications, and on the other to comply with all the requirements of an extremely strong and strictly regulated sector of the economy. We need to solve problems related to security, SOX compliance, and various federal and local regulations for our product to be used by multiple institutions in different states.
Working on a product that is live provides unique opportunities and challenges. At the same time, new functionalities are developed, old ones are improved, bugs are fixed, and production problems are solved. The product is complex, which enables its employees to gain a variety of knowledge and skills and develop as experts in their field. They can go through any stage of the Software Development Lifecycle of a real working product. It is extremely motivating for us to see the result of our work - what we wrote and created yesterday, today works, and is used by thousands of people, helping them to be better at their work. This, of course, means that the mistakes we have made come back to us like a boomerang and help us learn and become better. We strive to continually improve our processes, upgrade our technologies, and automate, and our goal and strategy is to have an endless lifecycle of product. The strategy is long-term, and the team has gone through large migrations and a real whirlwind of upgrading and changing technologies, and currently our goal is to "split" this large and complex product into smaller independent units that can be easily integrated through the API.
As the product is constantly growing and evolving, so is our team. We understand well that the product is complex, this makes it challenging, especially for new colleagues who are just touching it. We have built a smooth onboarding process for both experienced professionals and young people with little or no experience. We invest in our people for the long term by providing them with opportunities for development and a clear career path, it is extremely important for us to attract and create experts.
