"The Reason" by Izabel Ovcharova – A book that changes, touches, and inspires
As someone who has adored reading since childhood and turned it into a special ritual, I am always ready for new literary challenges. In recent years, I have gravitated towards psychological books, self-improvement literature, and poetry—genres that not only inspire me but also help me grow. For the past six months, I’ve been part of a women’s book club where, along with the other ladies, we not only read but also share our perspectives, emotions, and lessons from the books.
"The Reason" by Izabel Ovcharova was chosen as one of our monthly reads. Honestly, I had my reservations. This book had often caught my eye, but I always thought it wasn’t “for me.” However, as is often the case with the best stories, it broke my prejudices and deeply touched my heart.
The story captivated me from the very first pages. It begins with the early school years of the main character, Leon, and follows his family relationships, growth, and struggles during high school. The text is filled with emotions—from joy and excitement to profound sadness and tears. I read it in one breath, within a day, and realized this book had come to me at just the right moment—when I truly needed its messages and lessons.
"The Reason" is a book about pain, growth, and finding light, even when everything seems lost and gray. It delves into the depths of the human psyche, exploring themes like social isolation, bullying, depression, the loss of a loved one, and attempted suicide. It’s a book that can help anyone feeling lost by giving them hope and meaning. The book changes, touches, and inspires. I also believe that anyone, regardless of age, can find answers and inspiration on topics close to their heart.
The revised edition includes 11 new chapters told from the perspectives of different characters. They add new layers to the story, showing us various viewpoints and reminding us not to judge others superficially. These additional elements emphasize the idea that although we are all different, we can be a source of light and support for one another by showing understanding and kindness.
After reading the book, I attended our book club meeting, where we discussed "The Reason." We were all moved and inspired. The conversations about the book continued for hours, and the experiences from that day remain unforgettable.
If you’re looking for a book that will move, inspire, and leave a mark on your heart, "The Reason" is for you. It’s not just a story but a journey that will remind you that even in the hardest moments, there’s a reason to keep going. I wholeheartedly recommend it – it’s one of those books that stays with you forever.
